League Rules

2.10 RULES GOVERNING SOCCER LEAGUE

1. There will be a minimum of 8 scheduled games per team for each season.

2. Minimum of 7 players are required at game time to play. Any team showing up with less than 7 registered players will be given a forfeit. A penalty fee may be applied to the forfeiting team of $25 to be given to the league before their next game.

3. Practice good sportsmanship—have players shake hands after the game with their opponents.

4. Referees will be instructed to explain their calls to the captains/coaches only if requested. NO ONE is allowed to dispute the calls/decision of a referee. It is the captains responsibility to make sure that their team is respectful to the referee at all times. If there is a discrepancy with a referee, it is to be brought to the leagues attention. The league will then address the issue

5. ALL Cautions and Ejections will be recorded and handed in to the Board of Directors. Disciplinary actions will occur if a single player receives more than 4 cautions in one season or 2 ejections in one season. (See Disciplinary action section below)

6. Every player must wear shin guards and socks covering their shin guards.

7. Cleats/Soccer specific shoes must be worn during all games.

8. No jewelry can be worn during games. Wedding rings may be worn but must be taped.

9. All hard plastic &/or metal braces must be completely covered with a neoprene sleeve or the equivalent of with the exception of eye goggles. Ace bandages are not acceptable means of covering braces.

10. Players must wear supplied team shirts at all games.

All players will be given a number and that number will correspond with the number on the roster. Two players on the same team may not wear the same number.

11. All players must be registered and posses a player pass in order to participate in any league game.  Players must bring a picture id to all games so that the referee may verify their eligibility.

12. When an opponent does not have the required number of players, it is mandatory that the full team plays with only a one-player advantage.

13. All games are to start promptly at their scheduled kickoff time.
NO EXCEPTIONS
If a team is more than 15 minutes late they are required to forfeit and fines may be imposed at the discretion of the board

14. Unlimited substitutions on any stoppage.

15. Captains are required to submit An official team roster complete with players names, date of birth,  jersey #, and player signatures to the league registrar to have on file and to the referees before the start of every game.

16. Individual games scores are to be submitted by the home captains/coaches and referees to the Publicity Coordinator. Team standings will be maintained by the Board of Directors.

17. All coaches/captains should carry their own first aid kit and ice in the event of injuries.  All coaches are required to carry their players emergency contact information to every game

19. Game results will be recorded, including goal scorers and
standings will be kept.
a. Win= 3 points
b. Tie= 1 point
c. Loss= 0 points
d. Tie breakers will be as follows:
Head to Head, Goal Differential, Least number of Cautions/Ejections received during season.

 

20. FIFA Rules apply except where specifically noted.

COMPLAINT PROCEDURE, GUIDELINES FOR CONDUCT, DISCIPLINE PROCEDURES, & SAFETY EQUIPMENT

 

5.1 COMPLAINT PROCEDURE

All complaints regarding any aspects of the Organization (conduct or decisions of players, coaches, referees, spectators, etc.) should be brought to the attention of either the President or Vice-President. If neither of these individuals is available, the concern should be brought to the attention of any Board member, who will convey this issue to the Vice President. The complainant will be contacted by the Vice President and asked to reduce the complaint to writing or appear before the Executive Board.

All complaints will be brought before the Executive Board and will be kept confidential to Board members only, except where the required action to resolve the complaint would, by this action, directly or indirectly implicate the complainant. The decision to pursue a solution to any complaint brought to the Board's attention will reside solely with the Board.

All parties involved in the complaint will be notified as to the Board's decision or action in writing.

5.2 ALCHOHOLIC BEVERAGES & ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES

 Alcoholic beverages and illegal substances are forbidden at soccer games, practices, or places where it is outlawed or when children are present.

No interaction with players shall take place while under the influence of drugs or alcoholic beverages.

 5.3 DISCIPLINE PROCEDURES

Any conduct or action by a player, coach, or spectator, which reflects negatively on the EAST HUDSON WOMEN'S SOCCER LEAGUE, will be subject to the appropriate disciplinary action. The following list is for illustrative purposes only and does not limit the offenses to those listed:

1. Abusive language or obscene gestures

2. Fighting or inappropriate behavior

3. Use of illegal drugs or alcohol where forbidden

Interaction with players while under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol

Vandalism in relation to any League activity will result in the following minimum penalties:

First Instance

- player, spectator, captain, or coach suspended for minimum of two games, as well as all league and team activities during said time frame.

Second Instance

- player, spectator, captain, or coach expelled from League for the remainder of the season. If necessary, the captain, coach, or referee shall be responsible for directing the offender to leave the field immediately, or the game will be suspended.

Cautions and Ejections. Disiplinary actions will take place with the following minimum penalties:

4 Cautions in one season:

First Instance – Player, coach will have to sit out 2 scheduled games.

Second Instance – Player, coach will be asked to sit out remainder of season and will be subject to board review before being allowed to return to good standing.

2 Ejections in one season:

First Instance – Player, coach will have to sit the remainder of the game and an additional game .

Second Instance – Player, coach will be asked to sit out remainder of season and will be subject to board review before being allowed to return to good standing.

 The Executive Board will conduct a hearing with coach, spectators, and/or player involved in a disciplinary problem.

 Minutes must be kept of both the hearing and the decision.

All parties to the disciplinary hearing shall be notified by registered mail of the decision of the Board.

 

5.4 SAFETY EQUIPMENT

All players are required to wear shin guards at all practices and games.

Socks must cover shin guards, turf shoes (no metal cleats) for outdoors.

All referees and coaches will enforce safety equipment rules.

All hard plastic &/or metal braces must be completely covered with a neoprene sleeve or the equivalent of with the exception of eye goggles. Ace bandages are not acceptable means of covering braces.

5.5 JEWELRY

The wearing of jewelry (watches, rings, bracelets, & earrings) is prohibited. Exception is wedding rings will be permitted but have to be taped.

All coaches, captains, and referees will enforce this rule.
