About Us

Whether you are a seasoned player or just stepping onto the field for the first time, our league welcomes any woman over the age of 18 to join our teams.

We are a 11v11 Recreational League. Our league has a formal spring and summer season with women traveling from all over to play. New this summer will be the start of a 7v7 non-competitive division. We take time off from our formal seasons to play pick up games throughout the fall. In the winter we submit smaller teams in to a 7v7 indoor league.

Our "goal" is to encourage women of all ages and skill levels to participate in the game of soccer even after the college level. We strive to serve as advocates for the young girls and women in our community.

We are dedicated to the success of this league so that our daughters and the generations after will always have a place for them in the Hudson Valley. We provide a supportive atmosphere for new and returning players through our coaching program with open league practices. We especially like to play for a cause. We support our communities by participating in various fundraising events including the annual Goals For Hope Tournament.

We are always open to new teams and new players!

EHWSL is now associated with the Eastern New York Amateur Soccer Association (ENYASA) through the Eastern District Soccer Association

LEAGUE  HISTORY

The EHWSL has been around since the 1990’s  as an organized pick up league. Teams from Dutchess, Orange, and Putnam County as well as Connecticut would travel each week to play against each other. Over the last five years teams have dropped out, lives became busier, fielding a team became an issue, and women were not coming out to play their game.

In the fall of 2006, there were at most 10 women from Dutchess and Putnam  County that still came out to play soccer each week. The league was struggling and looked as if it were going to fold. At the end of the fall season, a small group of women came together and put a plan in motion that they hoped would resurrect the women’s soccer league.

By the next spring, with the help of some of the league’s founders and some new players, a formal board of directors was elected.
The league took on a formal name, held a first ever registration, and fielded four full teams made up primarily of women in our immediate area. The league began to take on a life of its own. Women from all over who were looking for a place to play came to us.

We now have four full teams during the fall and spring, open up to multiple divisions to accommodate the summer league, offer a successful coaching program for beginners and players who want more work on the ball, and our experienced players have formed travel teams traveling to participate in as many tournaments as we can find.

Now  YOU  have a chance to participate in an exciting, growing league whose focus is strictly upon the development and promotion of WOMEN soccer players. We have a foundation of committed and professional board of directors. Every team has a representative that participates on the board of directors to ensure that each team gets to vote and decides all issues for the entire league.

We are dedicated to the success of this league so that our daughters and the generations of women after will always have a place for them in the Hudson Valley.
